Jan 8th, 2010 at 8:02am

I catch the 06.39 from Benfleet every morning. Some mornings the heating is on(nice and cosy)and other mornings (like today)no heating on.Can anybody tell why? We are in the middle of one of the coldest winters in recent times yet with modern Trains, are incapable of putting the heating on!On the continent,Trains are so warm, you dont want to get off!Unacceptable. Angry

Here is the reply from C2C.(a very quick and informative reply)! Smiley

Thank you for your email.

The trains used on the c2c route are all fitted with a heating and air conditioning system that operates in conjunction with a thermostat that is preset and will automatically react according to the temperature. The driver has no input into the temperature of the train additionally the thermostats are checked regularly by staff on the route. Any c2c trains found to have system faults that cannot immediately be resolved will be withdrawn from service.

I am sorry for the uncomfortable journey that you experienced on the morning of the 8th January. Our train services should be heated during the cold periods of the year although it is of course possible that on occasion a unit may experience a fault, despite regular checks and maintenance.

We appreciate feedback regarding the heating on our trains and it is forwarded to our Fleet Department who are investigating any faults and will address any issues at the earliest opportunity.

The 0639 service from Benfleet to Fenchurch Street is an eight car service and it is not clear what carriage you were sitting in. In future to assist us investigate any potential faults with our rolling stock we would ask if you could also ideally provide the carriage number you were sitting in or describe the location of the carriage in the train formation, as potential faults can be quite localised to different carriages.

I thank you for taking the time to email in with your comments and I welcome any further comments or queries you may have.

Yours sincerely,
