fits in the pocket.
A version known as Game Boy Advance SP, with backlight
and built-in rechargeable battery, was launched in March 2003. This was followed by the touchscreen Nintendo DS in 2005, the Nintendo DS Lite and the Game Boy Micro.

We recommend:
Best game for GBA:
Our personal favourite game for the Game Boy Advance, is Advance
Wars - a superb turn-based strategy game where you battle on land, sea
and in the air, with a variety of foes. After completing the training, you work
through a series of campaign levels, collecting points as you go. These let you
unlock new ,maps and commanding officers (the COs have special powers to help
in battle). As well as the campaigns, you can plat one off games in the War Room,
against the computer, with friends over a link cable, or by passing the machine
to other players. Excellent value for money.
High-street price £34.99... Amazon
price for Advance Wars: £24.99.

Advance Wars 2
Fans of the first version of this game will be glad to hear that a sequel, 'Black
Hole Rising' became available in the US in late June 2003, and was released
in the UK in early October 2003. The game has the same formula as the previous,
but with a new campaign, new War Room maps, 5 new COs, some new unit types (including
missile silos, lasers and cannons), plus "Super CO powers" as well as the standard
CO powers. We've been playing this for some weeks now, and Advance Wars 2 is
very addictive. There are quite a few more levels in the campaign than Advance
Wars 1. We're on Level 25 - three more to go, and it's getting to be a struggle
against powerful foe. Watch for new weapons such as the cannon, and the ememy's
super factories. Oh, and don't underestimate new CO Sensei, with his CO powerup...
Advance Wars 2 is out now. Lowest online price seems to be £24.99 from
Amazon.

Advance Wars Dual Strike
The third in the family, "Dual Strike" is designed for the Nintendo DS only, so won't play on the GBA or Micro consoles. If you've played either of the other two in the family, this will be no surprise, but add some new COs, new Tag-Team battles, a
Real-time Combat mode
and more than 40 battle skills. Of course, Dual Strike makes use of the DS touch screen, which aids until selection and provides an info display using the top screen while you play. Fans of Advance Wars will find lots of new goodies, especially the new Stealth Fighter, Megatank and a Black Bomb.
Dual Strike was released in September 2005
Advance Wars Dual Strike is available for between £25 and £30 from
GAME ,
Amazon and Play.com.
